Guy Fieri’s ‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives’ to feature Alabama venues

We knew Guy Fieri had coastal Alabama on the menu. Now we know when we’ll get the first couple of servings.

As you may recall, the celebrity chef paid a visit to the Mobile area in June, in part to party with longtime collaborator “Panini Pete” Blohme and New Orleans band Cowboy Mouth as Blohme opened his new Daphne venture, The Waterfront.

Blohme said it was also an intensive work trip for Fieri: He and film crews for his Food Network show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” hit six restaurants in the Mobile area, piling up footage for the upcoming season. That’s some big news: The show has featured more than 1,400 restaurants across the county, but only four from Alabama.

The 38th season of “Triple-D” opened this month, and now the Food Network has begun to fill in its schedule for October. Two episodes stand out.

“East, South, West,” premiering at 8 p.m. Central on Friday, Oct. 20, will feature a stop in Mobile. There, says the Food Network synopsis, “a farm-to-table joint is cooking up killer crawfish etouffee and chicken-fried quail.” The episode also features venues in Connecticut and Wyoming.

The episode premiering on Oct. 27, “Sandwich-Fest,” hits the Eastern Shore. “In Daphne, Alabama, there’s a dynamite dip, plus delicious fall-off-the-bone pork.” The episode also finds Fieri chowing down in Nebraska and Connecticut.

The restaurants aren’t named in the information provided by the network. But given the likelihood that four more Mobile-area restaurants will be seen in future episodes, it’s just a taste of what’s to come. For more on the show, visit www.foodnetwork.com.
